The Institute fot Physical Research (IPR) of National Academy of Sciences of Armenia founded in 1967 by M.L. Ter-Mikaelyan currently is one of the leading research institutions in Armenia. The institute's research topics are:
laser physics, laser spectroscopy, nonlinear and quantum optics, interaction of radiation with matter, crystal growth and characterization, solid state physics, high-temperature superconductivity and scientific instrumentation. Many of research groups from IPR have intensive collaboration with European and US research organizations and foundations.
